Is It Okay To Wear This to the Teen Choice Awards? (MORE PHOTOS)

No.  Just no, Naya Rivera.  Not okay.  You look like a dominatrix background dancer for a Brandi music video in the 90s.

The Teen Choice Awards were this past weekend, and a plethora of teen idols came out to be adored and awarded for being cool to teenagers (or something like that.)  Stars have always tended to dress a little edgier for this occasion, given that this awards show has a looser and more casual vibe than that of the Emmys, Golden Globes, and Oscars.  Some stars, however, seem to have taken that freedom-of-fashion-expression to a level that just seemed a bit too sexy for the likes of the Teen Choice Awards.  I mean, the only people who vote for and/or watch this show are a bunch of 12+ yrs olds, so forgive me if I would not be so thrilled for my pre-teen to watch and think, “I will be cool and boys will like me if I show as much midriff as that sexy girl on Glee does!”

By all means, I’m all about celebs promoting that teens be themselves, and express themselves freely, but some of these just seem unnecessarily sexy.  I think the last thing impressionable young teens need to see is how obvious it is that you have a personal trainer working with you 30 hours a week in order for you to obtain that body that screams “Do me on this rainbow, Anchorman!

Selena Gomez: Make that slit any bigger and it won’t be the only one we see tonight :

Nina Dobrev: I’ve never watched the show, but now I see the two reasons why you have two vampire brothers fighting over you.

Miley Cyrus: Vampire slayer with a hit single about doing MDMA and cocaine in the club! (Who also manages to make everything she does somehow overtly sexual. Seriously, how does one make grocery shopping overtly sexual?)  I appreciate the “express your individuality” mantra she maintains, but perhaps on this occasion there would have been a more “young-teens-friendly” example she could have busted out for the night.
